I think self published authors and actually authors in general to be some of the nicest ,most helpful people I have ever dealt with. We self published our first novel, Bioprints, on December 19,2013. We had no idea what we were doing. We had never been on Twitter nor had we visited author's pages ,websites or blogs. One of our friends started as a self published author and now has a literary agent and a publisher. I hope one day we will acheive that too. She was extremely helpful. One of our daughters had been "tweeting" for years. She got us started on Twitter and even shared contacts :D, all of whom have been inviting and kind. All six of our children and one daughter-in-law quickly became beta testers and copy writers. Then we started tweeting! Oh my goodness!! I really cannot believe how kind and helpful everyone has been. When any author is promoting an event, book sale, blogspot, booksigning...whatever the occasion, everyone jumps in to help and tweets away. Also we have pestered some people with many questions about how to find, deal and execute everything needed to self publish successfully. No one has complained or not answered. All the authors have given us informed advice. Many of the authors we have met, have read and reviewed our book in exchange for us to read and review their book. That is an amazing help! We recently had a free book promotion which was very successful, we were #3 in our genre on Amazon. That only happened because SO MANY AUTHORS jumped in and helped us promote the event. Of course all of our tweeps were an amazing help not just authors, but most of our tweeps ARE authors :D. We have now finished our second novel, Flash Zombies, VolumeII in the O'Rourke crime novel series. Thanks to all our new friends and their help I am not as flummoxed about what I need to do.....that is after a million rewrites :(. My heartfelt thanks to all who have helped us so far, authors, entrepreneurs, family and friends! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!...blog later.... Joan
