My family, like most American families, has sent many of our men & women to serve in all branches of our military (except for the coastguard, however my grandson-in-law is planning to join). My grandfather was a Marine, he fought in the Banana wars & in WWI. My father was a civilian working for the Navy on a submarine when Pearl Harbor was attacked. He came home, married my mother & joined the Army. My Dad served in the Pacific and came home safe. His brother Captain George J. Watts served in WWII in the 82nd Airborne Division, the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He served in Europe. George received a Purple Heart & a Bronze Star while he was alive. After his death the President awarded him the Silver Star for gallantry in action. Uncle George is our only family member to die in service to his country. He is buried in Italy. He is the only family member who never came home. (except for a cousin who married an English girl while stationed in England but that's another story). My Aunt joined the Navy & also served during WWII. My Dad's younger brother served in Korea in the Air force. My brother & five of my cousins (two of them nurses) served in Vietnam in the Army. One of those cousins (a nurse) & her husband served in the Gulf War (at least two tours each). My nephew graduated from Annapolis , became a helicopter pilot in the Navy & served all over the Persian Gulf & in Afghanistan. As I mentioned earlier the next generation in my family is already gearing up to serve. I doubt my family history is much different from anyone else's reading this blog. I want to say thank you to all who have served & those serving now. Thank you to the families left behind. Thank you to our wounded warriors & their families. Thank you to all who lost family members. A great place to help our wounded warriors you can donate at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate again THANK YOU........Joan
Apparently a lot more than we expected. The second book in our O’Rourke Crime Novels Series is titled FLASH ZOMBIES. The word zombies seems to illicit an extreme and polarizing reaction. People either really hate zombies or really love them. There doesn’t seem to be a middle ground.
We’ve had several favorable comments and reviews about the book indicating they almost passed it up because it was about zombies. Once they started reading they found out it was about a flash mob company that dresses up like zombies. Their performance is used to distract the crowds to cover jewelry heists in high end stores. The name of the company is Flash Mob Zombies and everyone refers to it casually as Flash Zombies. The opposite seems to be true about FLASH ZOMBIES as well. Since this book isn’t really about zombies, the hard core zombie lovers don’t seem to be interested in it because it’s not really about zombies. FLASH ZOMBIES is a detective crime novel that mixes flash mobs, the Chicago Mob, a Latino gang, jewelry heists, narcotic thefts and some good old fashioned detective work that eventually brings down a Wisconsin mob boss.
We recently re-edited FLASH ZOMBIES and added scene headers. There are a lot of twists and turns in the story and the headers help the reader keep focused and stay on track. If you don’t like zombies but like detective crime novels, don’t let the zombies in the title dissuade you from enjoying book two in the series. If you already downloaded the Kindle Edition prior to the updates you can go to the Manage My Kindle tab on Amazon and download the re-edited version at no cost.
Perhaps the Bard was right, a detective novel by any other name is still a detective novel. So take a chance and enjoy FLASH ZOMBIES….blog later…Chris(RC)
Hi all! We recently overhauled our Authors Helping Authors page to try to give our featured authors a bigger boost. You may have noticed we added some Amazon Carousels where we can showcase the book covers for our indie authors. Below the Carousels is our Featured Author spot with the spotlight on a book of their choice. The author will occupy that spot for two weeks and then their post will drop down on the page while their cover continues to ride on the Carousel. We are keeping all the authors and their works on the page indefinitely, building a virtual indie library. Most genres will be featured so feel free to browse on a regular basis.
If you're an author that would like to be featured, use the contact form at the bottom of the Authors Helping Authors page. Send us a short blurb and a link to Amazon for us to review. It may take us a bit to get back to you, but we will let you know when we can schedule your post.
Wait....just one more thing. We also started running an Amazon Countdown Deal the first week of each month. This month from May 1 - 7 our novel CLONE DRONES is available for just .99 cents. (US only)
So stay tuned.....thanks for your support.....blog later... Chris (RC)
