Joylene Nowell Butler is Métis from Canada. Long before she began her first novel in 1983 to honour her dad's memory, she knew she was a writer. Writing gave her life purpose. Writing defined who she was and who she couldn’t be. Today she and her husband spend half the year in various regions of Canada and the other half somewhere very warm. For 25 years they lived in Cluculz Lake, in central B.C., and now they’re nomad, travelling where the heart takes them.
