Meet Author Irene Sauman

Irene Sauman is a retired historian living in Perth, Western Australia. She grew up and went to school in New South Wales, by the mighty Murray, where her family farmed oranges and sultana grapes, later wine grapes, and the occasional vegetable crop. She has worked as a librarian, sales clerk, secretary and house cleaner. At the age of 40 she finally made it to University as a single parent with three teenagers. With a BA degree, Post Grad Diploma and a second husband, she worked for the next 20 years as a consultant historian in the heritage sector in Western Australia. Researching is like detective work and always interested her, so it is not surprising that she was drawn to write cozy mysteries in an historical setting.
Now living in a retirement centre, she is a tennis fan, an awesome croquet player and a gardener with a reasonably green thumb, as well as a writer. Her next series will draw on her current interests and lifestyle. Her favourite authors-gone-by are Anthony Trollope, Dorothy Sayers, Ngaio Marsh and Agatha Christie.
